Institut Seni Indonesia Bali (ISI BALI) held a Socialization and Educational Session on the Prevention of Intolerance, Radicalism, Extremism, and Terrorism (IRET), as well as Violent Fanaticism, on Tuesday (October 6). The event took place in the Video Conference (Vicon) Room, 2nd Floor, Citta Kelangen Building, ISI BALI, and was attended by dozens of students from the Faculty of Performing Arts and the Faculty of Fine Arts and Design.

The session featured Briptu I Made Yoga Pramana, S.H., M.H., from the Prevention Team of the Bali Regional Task Force of the Indonesian National Police’s Densus 88 AT, as the keynote speaker. The session provided students with an educational forum to gain a better understanding of various beliefs, attitudes, and behaviors that may contribute to intolerance, radicalism, extremism, terrorism, and violent fanaticism.

The event was officially opened by the Head of the Bureau of Academic Affairs, Student Affairs, and Cooperation of ISI BALI, Dr. I Komang Arba Wirawan, S.Sn., M.Si. In his remarks, he emphasized the importance of equipping students with the knowledge and awareness necessary to respond critically to various information and social dynamics developing within their surroundings.

As members of the academic community, students play an important role in fostering a campus environment that is safe, inclusive, and respectful of differences. Therefore, strengthening awareness and understanding of the prevention of intolerance and violence is an important effort to develop students’ critical thinking and resilience in responding to influences that may disrupt peaceful coexistence.

In his presentation, Briptu I Made Yoga Pramana provided an overview of the identification and prevention of intolerance, radicalism, extremism, and terrorism, including the importance of remaining vigilant against various forms of influence that may emerge within social environments and digital spaces.

Students were also encouraged not to readily accept or disseminate information without first verifying its accuracy. Critical thinking, an appreciation of diversity, and the development of healthy communication are essential components in preventing the emergence of attitudes and actions that may lead to violence.

The session was conducted interactively, with students given the opportunity to raise questions and engage in discussions concerning various situations that may arise in everyday life. The discussion provided students with an opportunity to broaden their understanding while strengthening their awareness of the importance of maintaining tolerance and social harmony amid diversity.
