
ISI Bali initiated the establishment of the Bali-Global Axis of Arts and Design (B-GAAD) as a platform for dialogue, strategic partnerships, and collaboration among higher education institutions managing art and design programs across the Asia-Pacific region. B-GAAD holds the vision of fostering excellence in the sustainable governance of higher education in art and design, with a commitment to social welfare, upholding the values of local wisdom, and mainstreaming natural environmental conservation.
B-GAAD mission: (1) To foster dialogue and collaboration in order to enhance the quality of higher education in art and design; (2) To develop partnerships and programs aimed at improving community prosperity while upholding local wisdom values; (3) To create initiatives for the conservation of the natural environment; (4) To implement programs that contribute to the realization of a peaceful, justice, and prosperous world.
As an actualization of the B-GAAD vision and mission, eight main programs have been established, namely: (1) Bali-Global Arts and Design Symposium (B-GADS); (2) Bali-Global Performing Arts Map (B-GPAM); (3) Bali-Global Art Map Exhibition (B-GAME); (4) Bali- Global Innovative Design Map Exhibition (B-GIDME); (5) Bali-Global Encounter Figure (B-GEF); (6) Bali-Global Expo and Job Fair (B-GEJF); (7) B-GAAD Leaders’ Summit; dan (8) Bali-Global Authentic Trip (B-GAT).
B-GAAD I was held from October 19 to 25, 2024, under the theme Kala-Manawa-Kalpa – Time-Human-Term (Waktu-Manusia-Momenta). B-GAAD I was attended by 12 universities, two Consulates General (the Consulates of Japan and Australia in Bali), and three cultural institutions (ARMA Museum, Tonyraka Art Gallery, and Komaneka Art Gallery). Participating universities included: Kazakh National Academy of Choreography, Kazakhstan; University of Western Australia; Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts, Singapore; National Academy of Arts, Culture and Heritage (ASWARA), Malaysia; Mahasarakham University, Thailand; Jiangxi Institute of Fashion Technology, China; Lasalle College of the Arts, Singapore; Okinawa Prefectural University of Arts, Japan; Kunitachi College of Music, Japan; Kyoto Saga University of Arts, Japan; Hankuk University of Foreign Studies, South Korea; and Youngsan University, South Korea
