The Indonesian Institute of the Arts Bali (ISI Bali) has strengthened its global engagement through a comprehensive collaboration with the Government of Misato City, Shimane Prefecture, Japan. This initiative represents ISI Bali’s first international cooperation with a governmental institution.

The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed by the Rector of ISI Bali, Prof. Dr. Wayan “Kun” Adnyana, and the Mayor of Misato City, Mr. Takashi Kado. The signing was witnessed by the Consul General of the Republic of Indonesia in Osaka, Jhon Tjahjanto Boestami, and the Consul General of Japan in Bali, Mr. Katsutoshi Miyakawa, on Friday (12 December) at Canoe Park Misato.

The areas of cooperation include the design of Balinese-style interior concepts for a shopping center through a student design competition involving ISI Bali students, the strengthening of the Misato Bali Festival, and the organization of an alumni gathering for ISI Bali graduates residing in Japan.

Prior to the signing ceremony, an official audience was held with the Governor of Shimane Prefecture, Mr. Tatsuya Maruyama, on Thursday (11 December) at the Governor’s Office in Matsue City, followed by a visit to the Izumo Taisha Shinto Shrine in Izumo City. The delegation also visited the Shimane Art Museum, which houses masterpieces by Katsushika Hokusai (1760–1849), and the Tokyo Metropolitan Museum, which was hosting an exhibition of works by Vincent van Gogh (1853–1890).

The MoU signing ceremony between ISI Bali and the Government of Misato City received extensive coverage from Japanese media outlets. (ISIBALI/Public Relations)
