Description

The Film and Television Production Study Program at the Indonesian Institute of the Arts (ISI) Bali is an applied undergraduate (D-4) program that has been established since 2013.
The establishment of the Film and Television Study Program was based on the Decree of the Minister of Education and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia No. 146/F/0/2013 concerning the authorization to offer the Diploma IV (D-4) Program in Television and Film at the Indonesian Institute of the Arts Denpasar. The decree was issued in Jakarta on April 22, 2013, by the Minister of Education and Culture, and signed by the Director General of Higher Education, Djoko Santoso.

Since its inception, the Film and Television Production Study Program at ISI Bali has shown significant positive development. This is evident from the consistently increasing number of applicants each year. In terms of human resources, particularly academic staff, there has been both quantitative and qualitative growth. Graduates of the program have been successfully absorbed into various sectors within the audiovisual industry.

The program is supported by adequate facilities and infrastructure, although regular updates remain necessary, particularly for equipment such as cameras and audio devices. Regarding infrastructure, the Film and Television Production Study Program at ISI Bali is equipped with a well-functioning studio suitable for the production of television and film content.

Furthermore, strong networking and partnerships with industry stakeholders have been well established. This is reflected in the numerous collaborations the program has developed with various partners operating in the audiovisual field.

VISION

The vision of the Film and Television Production Study Program is to become a Centre of Excellence in creating and presenting film and television artworks rooted in local wisdom, based on the Merdeka Belajar–Kampus Merdeka framework, and globally competitive, supported by an academic community embodying the spirit of Pancasila, resilience, dynamism, critical thinking, creativity, and innovation.

  • To develop students into world-class creators of film and television artworks equipped with global knowledge and skills.
  • To cultivate students as creators of film and television artworks with strong visual storytelling abilities, adhering to high ethical and aesthetic standards.

Graduate Profile

Director

Possesses the competencies, skills, and characteristics necessary to translate a film script into visual and audio forms, with careful consideration of aesthetic, narrative, and emotional aspects.

Screenwriter

Possesses the competence to develop story ideas into strong and original film concepts. Capable of writing film scripts with solid dramatic structure, vivid characters, compelling dialogue, and relevant themes. Able to analyze and adapt material from other sources (novels, true stories, news, etc.) into screenplay format.

Cinematographer

Translating the director’s vision into visual form through lighting, image composition, camera movement, and color.

Designing the visual concept and film atmosphere in accordance with the story’s needs and the directorial style.

Editor

Assembling and editing audiovisual materials (images, sound, effects) into a coherent, logical, and emotionally engaging story.

Understanding rhythm and narrative structure, and capable of creating tension, surprise, and emotion through editing techniques.

Managing and organizing footage efficiently, while collaborating with the director, writer, and cinematographer during the post-production process.

Applying professional editing software for the production of films, television, commercials, documentaries, and digital content.

Sound Editor

Designing, recording, editing, and mixing sound elements in film such as dialogue, sound effects (SFX), ambient sounds, and music to create atmosphere and support the visual narrative.

Art Director

Designing the visual concept of the film’s story world, including sets, props, costumes, and other visual elements that support the narrative.

Interpreting the script into visual forms by considering nuances, era, style, and the story’s message.

Documentary

Designing, producing, and completing research-based documentary films that incorporate factual narratives as well as appropriate aesthetic and ethical approaches.

Developing documentary ideas based on social, cultural, environmental, historical, or human interest issues with a critical and original perspective.

Managing the entire documentary production process, from research, proposal/script writing, filming, directing, to editing.

Acting as a storyteller capable of voicing reality in roles such as director, writer, editor, and documentary producer.

Television Programmer

Designing engaging television program concepts and formats that align with target audiences and current media trends.

Managing television program production professionally from pre-production, production, to post-production stages.

Understanding directing principles, scriptwriting, camera work, and editing within the context of television production.

Film and Television Production Study Program

Desak Putu Yogi Antari Tirta Yasa, S.Sn., M.Sn

Yogi Antari is a lecturer in the Film and Television Production Study Program at the Indonesian Institute of the Arts (ISI) Bali. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Photography from ISI Denpasar and her Master’s degree in Art Education (Videography Creation) from ISI Yogyakarta. Her expertise lies in photography, film, and the visual arts. One of her notable works is the documentary film Kembali ke Asal, produced with support from the Dana Indonesiana grant in 2022. In addition to her creative work, Yogi Antari has written books, scientific papers, and articles published in various media outlets. One of her published books is Biografi Visual I Dewa Nyoman Batuan.

I Kadek Puriartha, S.Sn., M.Sn

I Kadek Puriartha, S.Sn., M.Sn., is a lecturer in the Film and Television Production Study Program at the Indonesian Institute of the Arts (ISI) Bali. He earned his Bachelor’s degree in Photography from ISI Denpasar and his Master’s degree in Art Creation (Photography Creation) from ISI Yogyakarta. He is currently pursuing a Doctoral degree in Cultural Studies at Udayana University. His creative works include the documentary films Kembang Rampe and Biografi Tjokorda Raka Tisnu. Kadek Puriartha actively writes books and academic articles, including one titled The Relevance of the Application of the Segara Concept in Traditional Balinese Architecture in the Documentary Film Calaccitra Undagi Mahottama. He is also involved in the Singapadu Artists Association, regularly participates in exhibitions, academic discussions, and seminars, and remains an active advocate and practitioner of Balinese dance arts.

I Made Denny Chrisna Putra

I Made Denny Chrisna Putra is a lecturer in the Film and Television Production Study Program at the Indonesian Institute of the Arts (ISI) Denpasar. He holds a degree in Film and specializes in cinematography, directing, and film production, with extensive experience in the international film industry. His work earned a 2023 Daytime Emmy Award nomination for Outstanding Cinematography through his involvement in the Apple TV series HOME. His films have also been selected for various international festivals, including the Jogja-NETPAC Asian Film Festival (JAFF) and Minikino Film Week. In the fields of research and creative practice, he has written and produced both documentary and fiction films, several of which have been published in journals and conference proceedings. In addition, some of his works have been officially registered under intellectual property rights (HKI).

I Nyoman Payuyasa, S.Pd., M.Pd.

I Nyoman Payuyasa, S.Pd., M.Pd., is a lecturer in the Film and Television Production Study Program, Faculty of Fine Arts and Design, Indonesian Institute of the Arts (ISI) Bali. He earned his Bachelor’s degree in Indonesian Language and Literature Education and his Master’s degree in Language Education from Ganesha University of Education, Singaraja, Bali. His achievements include winning the Intermediate-Level Literacy Competition organized by the Balai Bahasa Bali, receiving a nomination for Best Documentary Film at the Bandung Cultural Festival (2024), being selected as an official selection for Best Documentary at the West Sumatera Film Festival, and earning a nomination for Best Documentary Film at the Sinemaphoria Festival (2025).

In 2024, he conducted research under the Artistic Research and Creation Scheme with a project titled “Film Dokumenter Tutur Lelaku I Ketut Muji.” One of his academic publications, “From Ritual to Virtual: Enhancing Hindu Religious Education through Digital Literacy Authors,” was published in the Jurnal Edukasi in 2024.

I Wayan Agus Mahardika, S.Kom., M.Sn.

I Wayan Agus Mahardika is a faculty member of the Film and Television Study Program at the Indonesian Institute of the Arts (ISI) Denpasar. He earned his Master of Arts degree from ISI Denpasar in 2023, specializing in creative media, particularly film. In the same year, he initiated the production of the film Meru Agung, developed from his master’s thesis on the history of Jimbaran Village. The film won third place in the Bali Provincial Historical Documentary Film Competition organized by the Department of Culture of Badung Regency.

Beyond filmmaking, he actively contributes to various campus activities, particularly in visual production, including teasers, profile videos, and other creative media content. His scholarly works include undergraduate theses, a master’s thesis, nationally accredited journal publications, and registered intellectual property (HKI) works.

Made Rai Budaya Bumiarta,

Made Rai Budaya Bumiarta, widely known as Rai Pendet, has served as a lecturer in the Film and Television Production Program at the Indonesian Institute of the Arts (ISI) Bali since 2019. He earned his Master’s degree in Digital Film & Television from Limkokwing University, Malaysia. His works—such as Tarian Bumi, which was screened in Europe, and Depth of the Bamboo Forest, winner of the China Micro-Film Festival—demonstrate his strong presence in the international film scene.

Rai also participated in the 72 Hours Film Production project in Chengdu, China. In 2024, he was awarded the Australia Awards Indonesia Scholarship to attend the Writing and Directing Lab at Griffith Film School, Australia. Furthermore, he represented Indonesia as a delegate at the Busan Film Festival 2025 in South Korea. His most recent work as co-producer, SAMSARA—a film directed by Garin Nugroho—began its world tour in February 2025.

Ni Kadek Dwiyani

Ni Kadek Dwiyani is a lecturer in the Film and Television Production Program, Faculty of Fine Arts and Design, Indonesian Institute of the Arts (ISI) Bali. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in English Literature and continued her Master’s studies in Linguistics (Translation) at Udayana University. Currently, she is pursuing a Doctoral degree in Art Studies at ISI Bali.

Dwiyani has received several distinctions, including the Outstanding Lecturer Award and the Motivational Woman Award in the Field of Media (2018, City of Denpasar). Her scholarly contributions include national and international journal and conference proceedings, as well as several documentary films, such as Amerta Ning Sinar. Her most recent work, the documentary film Taksu Carita, was released in 2024, further showcasing her dedication to integrating academic research and creative practice in the field of visual storytelling.

Gede Basuyoga Prabhawita

Gede Basuyoga Prabhawita is a lecturer and film professional born on December 15, 1989. He earned his Master’s degree in Film Art Creation from the Indonesian Institute of the Arts (ISI) Surakarta in 2016. Currently serving as a Lecturer (Lektor) at ISI Bali, he has produced a wide range of films, advertisements, and documentaries.

Beyond his teaching role, Basuyoga is actively involved as a speaker and judge in various film competitions and has also authored a visual biography book. With extensive experience in the audiovisual industry, he continues to share his expertise and passion for filmmaking through both academic engagement and professional practice.

Gangga Lawranta M.Sn

Gangga Lawranta, M.Sn., was born in Padang Panjang, West Sumatra, on January 5, 1990. He completed his primary and secondary education in his hometown before pursuing higher education at the Indonesian Institute of the Arts (ISI) Padang Panjang, majoring in Television and Film, and graduated in 2016. He continued his studies at the same institution, earning a Master’s degree in Film Creation and Studies in 2021, specializing in Experimental Film.

Beyond teaching, Gangga has been involved in several fiction and documentary film productions and has participated in art exhibitions and cultural festivals. Since 2022, he has served as a lecturer at ISI Bali in the Film and Television Production Study Program. He has also produced scientific publications and obtained intellectual property rights (HKI) for his creative works.

I Made Roy Hariata, SE

I Made Roy Hariata, S.E., serves as an administrative staff member in the Film and Television Production Study Program, Faculty of Fine Arts and Design, Indonesian Institute of the Arts (ISI) Bali. He earned his Bachelor’s degree in Management Economics from Warmadewa University. Since 2022, he has been responsible for managing and coordinating various administrative tasks within the program, including correspondence, managing student and lecturer attendance through the Nata Cita system, as well as processing academic records such as grades and class schedules.

In addition to his administrative duties, Roy has also been actively involved in several film production projects, including participation in the feature film production Clekontong Mas: The Movie.
