Study Program
Description
The Film and Television Production Study Program at the Indonesian Institute of the Arts (ISI) Bali is an applied undergraduate (D-4) program that has been established since 2013.
The establishment of the Film and Television Study Program was based on the Decree of the Minister of Education and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia No. 146/F/0/2013 concerning the authorization to offer the Diploma IV (D-4) Program in Television and Film at the Indonesian Institute of the Arts Denpasar. The decree was issued in Jakarta on April 22, 2013, by the Minister of Education and Culture, and signed by the Director General of Higher Education, Djoko Santoso.
Since its inception, the Film and Television Production Study Program at ISI Bali has shown significant positive development. This is evident from the consistently increasing number of applicants each year. In terms of human resources, particularly academic staff, there has been both quantitative and qualitative growth. Graduates of the program have been successfully absorbed into various sectors within the audiovisual industry.
The program is supported by adequate facilities and infrastructure, although regular updates remain necessary, particularly for equipment such as cameras and audio devices. Regarding infrastructure, the Film and Television Production Study Program at ISI Bali is equipped with a well-functioning studio suitable for the production of television and film content.
Furthermore, strong networking and partnerships with industry stakeholders have been well established. This is reflected in the numerous collaborations the program has developed with various partners operating in the audiovisual field.
VISION
The vision of the Film and Television Production Study Program is to become a Centre of Excellence in creating and presenting film and television artworks rooted in local wisdom, based on the Merdeka Belajar–Kampus Merdeka framework, and globally competitive, supported by an academic community embodying the spirit of Pancasila, resilience, dynamism, critical thinking, creativity, and innovation.
MISION
- To develop students into world-class creators of film and television artworks equipped with global knowledge and skills.
- To cultivate students as creators of film and television artworks with strong visual storytelling abilities, adhering to high ethical and aesthetic standards.
- To enable students to engage in dialogue (public speaking) with and among audiences through professionally performed and competitively positioned film and television works.
- To foster students who possess innovative economic, artistic, and cultural considerations in producing film and television works that contribute to improving the quality of life for Indonesian society and the global community.
- To produce film and television creators with comprehensive knowledge, theory, and technical skills, as well as professional behavior and character necessary to create works emphasizing strong visual storytelling with high aesthetic standards, creativity, and innovation

Graduate Profile
Director
Possesses the competencies, skills, and characteristics necessary to translate a film script into visual and audio forms, with careful consideration of aesthetic, narrative, and emotional aspects.
Screenwriter
Possesses the competence to develop story ideas into strong and original film concepts. Capable of writing film scripts with solid dramatic structure, vivid characters, compelling dialogue, and relevant themes. Able to analyze and adapt material from other sources (novels, true stories, news, etc.) into screenplay format.
Cinematographer
Translating the director’s vision into visual form through lighting, image composition, camera movement, and color.
Designing the visual concept and film atmosphere in accordance with the story’s needs and the directorial style.
Editor
Assembling and editing audiovisual materials (images, sound, effects) into a coherent, logical, and emotionally engaging story.
Understanding rhythm and narrative structure, and capable of creating tension, surprise, and emotion through editing techniques.
Managing and organizing footage efficiently, while collaborating with the director, writer, and cinematographer during the post-production process.
Applying professional editing software for the production of films, television, commercials, documentaries, and digital content.
Sound Editor
Designing, recording, editing, and mixing sound elements in film such as dialogue, sound effects (SFX), ambient sounds, and music to create atmosphere and support the visual narrative.
Art Director
Designing the visual concept of the film’s story world, including sets, props, costumes, and other visual elements that support the narrative.
Interpreting the script into visual forms by considering nuances, era, style, and the story’s message.
Documentary
Designing, producing, and completing research-based documentary films that incorporate factual narratives as well as appropriate aesthetic and ethical approaches.
Developing documentary ideas based on social, cultural, environmental, historical, or human interest issues with a critical and original perspective.
Managing the entire documentary production process, from research, proposal/script writing, filming, directing, to editing.
Acting as a storyteller capable of voicing reality in roles such as director, writer, editor, and documentary producer.
Television Programmer
Designing engaging television program concepts and formats that align with target audiences and current media trends.
Managing television program production professionally from pre-production, production, to post-production stages.
Understanding directing principles, scriptwriting, camera work, and editing within the context of television production.
