Study Program

Description

he Product Design Study Program is part of the Faculty of Fine Arts and Design at the Indonesian Institute of the Arts Bali. The program focuses on the development of product design knowledge and practice based on Balinese local culture with a global orientation.

Graduates of Product Design are prepared to become professional designers who are creative, adaptive, and innovative, with the ability to integrate aesthetic values, functionality, technology, product comfort, and cultural insight.

Academic activities include lectures, laboratory practice, studio work, industrial internships, research, community service, as well as participation in competitions and student organization activities. The learning process combines theory and practice through lectures, discussions, group work, and studio projects, supported by lecture rooms, computer laboratories, creative studios, and a library.

The curriculum emphasizes design skills, creativity, entrepreneurship, and the use of technology. With the support of competent lecturers and the implementation of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education, the Product Design program equips graduates for careers in the creative industry or to develop their own entrepreneurial ventures.

After completing their studies, graduates of the Product Design Study Program are awarded the academic degree of Bachelor of Design (S.Ds).

VISION

To establish the Product Design Study Program as a Centre of Excellence in creating and presenting product design works based on Balinese local traditional culture, shaping national character with global competitiveness.

MISION

  • To provide high-quality higher education aimed at preserving and developing Balinese traditional culture as a means of achieving global competitiveness;

  • To enhance research and community service that supports education and the advancement of art, science, and technology in the field of Product Design;

  • To develop sustainable collaborations with institutions in related fields;

Graduate Profile Bachelor’s Degree Program in Product Design
Faculty of Fine Arts and Design – Indonesian Institute of the Arts Denpasar

The Product Design undergraduate program aims to produce graduates with the following qualifications:

  • Graduates who are professional in the field of product design, possess noble character, strong academic insight, an entrepreneurial spirit, and are competitive and responsive to emerging job opportunities and industry developments—enabling them to compete both nationally and internationally;

  • Graduates who are capable of facing challenges in the era of globalization, initiating business ventures, and creating employment opportunities for themselves and others, particularly in the creative industries;

  • Graduates who are professionally skilled in applying knowledge and expertise in product design;

  • Graduates who are capable of innovation and creativity in problem-solving, while demonstrating strong enthusiasm and discipline;

  • Graduates who are prepared and responsive to technological, artistic, and communication advancements, aligned with the evolving landscape of production and design technologies.

These graduate qualities are embedded in every graduate of the Product Design Study Program, who is awarded the academic degree Bachelor of Design (S.Ds).

    Wahyu Indira, S.Sn., M.Sn

    Wahyu Indira, S.Sn., M.Sn. earned her Bachelor’s degree in Visual Communication Design from the Indonesian Institute of the Arts (ISI) Denpasar and completed her Master’s degree at the Graduate Program of ISI Yogyakarta in 2011. She is currently pursuing her Doctoral studies at ISI Bali. He has been actively involved in numerous exhibitions, including Kini Jani Exhibition, Bali Jani Exhibition, Illustration Exhibition, FKI Exhibition, International INACADE Exhibition, Adirupa Exhibition, Bali Megarupa (2021, 2022, 2023, 2025), Adikara Rupa 1 and 2, Bali Bhuwana Rupa 1, 2, and 3, as well as representing Indonesia at the Dubai Expo. In addition to her exhibitions, she is frequently invited as a speaker, particularly in the field of design. She has also been actively publishing scientific works in accredited journals and has authored several books, including Photography for Visual Designers; Book Chapter: Branding Bali and Its Popular Culture; Fundamentals of Animation: Principles, Process, and Creative Practice; and Introduction to Animation: Techniques, Technology, and Production.

    Dr. Ni Luh Desi In Diana Sari, S.Sn., M.Sn.

    Dr. Ni Luh Desi In Diana Sari, S.Sn., M.Sn. is a lecturer in the Product Design Study Program, Faculty of Fine Arts and Design, Indonesian Institute of the Arts (ISI) Bali. She completed her Doctoral studies at ISI Bali, focusing her research on sustainable packaging design based on local cultural values.

    She has received several awards in provincial-level design competitions, including packaging design for Ayam Betutu and Endek products. Actively conducting research on eco-friendly packaging, she has created a number of innovative packaging designs for Bali’s micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs). Her scientific works have been published in accredited national journals, reputable international journals, and indexed international conference proceedings.

    Ni Kadek Karuni

    The artist has actively participated in numerous national and international exhibitions. Notable exhibitions include Bali Mega Rupa II (2020), Bali Mega Rupa III: Wanacita Karang Awak (2021), Bali Dwipantara Adirupa: Wana-Rupa-Nuswantara (2021), and Bali Mega Rupa IV (2022). Other highlights include an exhibition at The Villa in Surabaya (2022), the International Bali Padma Bhuana Rupa II at N-CAS ISI Denpasar (2022), Bali Mega Rupa V: Wara Wastu Waruna (2023), and the Griya Perempuan Exhibition: “Uma-Umah-Waruna” at N-CAS ISI Bali (2023).

    International participation includes Raka Tirtha Sadha at Museum Puri Lukisan, Ubud (2023), and the Shanghai Art Collection Museum (2024). Other exhibitions include Griya Perempuan (2024), Daya Perempuan at Kulidan Kitchen and Space, Gianyar, Bali (2024), the national exhibition Rupa Harmoni Berdikari Negeri in Jakarta (2024), B-GAME at Koma Neka Art Gallery, Keramas, Gianyar (2024), and Bali Dwipantara Adirupa: Bali Bhuwana-Bindu at N-CAS ISI Bali (2024). Most recently, she participated in Bali Mega Rupa VII themed “KARA-BHUWANA-KALA (Cipta Masa Samasta)” in 2025.

    I Wayan Dedy Prayatna, S.Tr.Ds., M.Sn.

    I Wayan Dedy Prayatna, S.Tr.Ds., M.Sn., born in Denpasar on January 28, 1995, is an academician and practitioner in the field of fashion who completed his Master’s degree at the Indonesian Institute of the Arts (ISI) Bali. With a strong academic background and professional experience, he possesses expertise in fashion design development and its application within the creative industry.

    As a lecturer, he is actively engaged in producing academic work through publications of articles and books, and also serves as a resource person in various MSME training programs, particularly focusing on enhancing creativity and competitiveness of local products. His work extends beyond education, emphasizing community empowerment through the integration of art, design, and entrepreneurship.

    Genial Nabilaisyah Firdauzi, S.Ds., M.Ds.

    Genial Nabilaisyah Firdauzi, S.Ds., M.Ds. has been a lecturer in the Product Design Study Program at the Indonesian Institute of the Arts (ISI) Bali since 2024. Her area of expertise is jewelry product design, encompassing education, research, and community service activities. During her tenure as a lecturer, she has published articles in national journals and actively created design works that have been exhibited.

    I Gede Eka Yasa Utama Wibawa

    A Master’s graduate in Design from Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB), currently teaching in the Product Design Study Program at the Indonesian Institute of the Arts (ISI) Bali. Their area of expertise is User-Centered Design, a design methodology focused on user needs. They have professional experience in furniture design, visual merchandising (VM), and the packaging industry. Their research interests include sustainable packaging and cultural identity in packaging. Currently, they are engaged in product experimentation and prototyping using 3D printing technology.

    Dr. I Ketut Sida Arsa, S.Sn., M.Si.

    Dr. I Ketut Sida Arsa, S.Sn., M.Si. is an academician and researcher in the field of Craft Arts, holding a Doctoral degree (Ph.D.). He is actively engaged in producing scholarly work. In 2024, he participated in a research project titled “Development of Immersive Job-Sheet Simulation Based on Augmented Reality for Jewelry Making to Enhance Vocational Competence in Creative Vocational Schools in Bali.”

    His recent Q1 publications include “Strategic Collaborations and Diversification Pathways to Sustainable Growth in Bali’s Tourism Village and Business Ecosystems” and “Examining the Effect of Augmented Reality Attributes on Student Vocational Equity through Experience of Ephemeral Elevation, Bespoke Personalization Knowledge, and Transversal Skills.” His various works, community service activities, and books can be accessed via SINTA (ID: 6016754).

    Made Gana Hartadi, S.Ds., M.Sn.

    Made Gana Hartadi, S.Ds., M.Sn. has been a lecturer in the Product Design Study Program at ISI Bali since 2022. His area of expertise is product branding, encompassing education, research, and community service. During his tenure as a lecturer, he has published several articles in national journals, authored books, served as a judge in competitions, actively participated in exhibitions, and received research grants.

    Ni Made Santi Udiyani, S.Ds., M.Ds.

    Ni Made Santi Udiyani, S.Ds., M.Ds. has been a lecturer in the Product Design Study Program at the Indonesian Institute of the Arts (ISI) Bali since 2025. She completed her Master’s degree in Design with research focused on traditional textile products. Her expertise lies in textile product design and natural dyeing, which she applies through teaching, research, and community service activities. She is actively developing research and community empowerment programs in line with her area of specialization.

    Ni Wayan Sri Wahyuni, S.Ds., M.Ds

    Ni Wayan Sri Wahyuni, S.Ds., M.Ds. has been a lecturer in the Product Design Study Program at the Indonesian Institute of the Arts (ISI) Bali since 2024. She specializes in human-centered design, focusing on product design psychology and product ergonomics, applied through teaching, research, and community service activities. During her tenure at ISI Bali, she has published articles in national journals, actively engaged in community service, and created design works that have been exhibited. Through her dedication, she continues to develop student potential and contribute meaningfully to the advancement of creative and innovative product design.

    Nyoman Ayu Permata Dewi S.Tr.Ds., M.Sn,

    Nyoman Ayu Permata Dewi, S.Tr.Ds., M.Sn., born in Denpasar on June 26, 1994, has been a lecturer in the Product Design Study Program at ISI Bali since 2022. She specializes in sustainable product design, with a focus on the product life cycle. During her tenure at ISI Bali, she has published several articles in national journals, authored books, served as a judge in competitions, and acted as a speaker and mentor in arts-based product workshops for MSMEs and schools. She is actively involved in community service, participates in exhibitions, and has received multiple research grants funded by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology. Through her dedication, she continues to develop student potential while making meaningful contributions to the advancement of creative, innovative, and sustainable product design.
