Study Program

description

The Interior Design Study Program at ISI Bali is under the Faculty of Fine Arts and Design and is recognized as one of the oldest interior design study programs at a public university in Indonesia, following ITB Bandung and ISI Yogyakarta. The program was established on May 10, 1983, through Decree No. 483/SK/PT.17/R.VII/1983; 5/DIKTI/Kep/1984 under the Fine Arts and Design Study Program (PSSRD) of Udayana University. Based on Presidential Decree of the Republic of Indonesia No. 33 of 2003, the Indonesian Art College (STSI) Denpasar was merged with PSSRD of Udayana University to become the Indonesian Institute of the Arts (ISI) Denpasar. At that time, two faculties were established: the Faculty of Performing Arts and the Faculty of Fine Arts and Design. The Interior Design Study Program subsequently received operational permits through Decrees No. 304/D/2002; 2199/D/T/2006; and 2238/T/K-N/2010, issued respectively on February 12, 2002; June 23, 2006; and May 20, 2010.

The vision of the Interior Design Study Program at the Faculty of Fine Arts and Design, ISI Bali, is to become a Center of Excellence for Interior Design Based on Local Culture with a Universal Perspective. The program emphasizes cultural strength as its distinctive characteristic while synergizing the business world, industry, and academia to prepare students for changes in society, culture, the professional world, and technological advancement. As a result, graduates are equipped with competencies relevant to the needs of the times. The education is supported by competent lecturers from various disciplines, such as architecture, interior design, landscape, and cultural studies. With research experience and professional practice, a holistic, contextual, and adaptive curriculum is developed to address local needs and global dynamics.

VISION

The realization of higher education in the field of interior design that is excellent, independent, and culturally grounded, with global competitiveness by the year 2025. This vision is derived from the Study Program’s vision for 2016-2020, which is to become a Center of Excellence for Interior Design based on Local Culture with a Universal Perspective.

MISION

  • To organize quality higher education in interior design and produce graduates who are professional, innovative, and possess high integrity in accordance with the demands of local, national, and international communities.

  • To develop science and technology (IPTEKS) through innovative research in partnership to produce scientific publications at national and international levels.

  • To apply science and technology (IPTEKS) through national and international partnerships in the form of community service to provide solutions to the problems and needs of society and the nation.

Consultant (Conceptor)

A business entity that provides initial input for interior design in the form of concept drawings. In this case, the consultant provides information to clients regarding various aspects related to design such as floor plans, materials, and landscaping. The concept drawings can be in the form of 2D or 3D images.

Researcher

Conducts research on new materials that can be applied in interior design. This profession can be part of government or private institutions.

Writer

Conducts studies related to the latest phenomena or issues in interior design. This profession is also able to provide reference information for practitioners and educators within the interior design field.

Educator

Educates prospective interior designers to become practitioners within the scope of elementary schools up to high schools/vocational schools (SMA/SMK).

Creator

Designer
A university graduate holding a degree in arts or design who plays a role in the formulation between knowledge and the practice of interior design, furniture design, landscape design, and interior decoration. Able to prepare cost estimates and technical specifications for interior design. Designers can be part of government or private institutions.

Presenter and Entrepreneur

Contractor plays a role in managing and realizing interior projects, exhibitions, visual merchandising, and event organizing (EO) on local, national, and international scales in a creative and professional manner.

I Kadek Dwi Noorwatha

Meraih pendidikan terakhirnya di Program Doktoral Ilmu Seni Rupa dan Desain, Institut Teknologi Bandung. Bidang keahliannya adalah desain interior berbasis budaya, khususnya tradisi keundagian Bali. Ia telah menerima penghargaan karya ilmiah dan kompetisi seni rupa dan desain tingkat nasional. Pengalaman penelitian meliputi sejarah kebudayaan dan perjuangan Bali, transformasi budaya Bali dalam konteks desain arsitektural. Karya ilmiahnya yang khusus meneliti tradisi undagi dan resiliensi budaya dalam desain arsitektural telah dipublikasikan pada jurnal bereputasi internasional seperti Cogent Arts and Humanities, Harmonia dan jurnal bereputasi nasional. Ia aktif menggabungkan riset akademik dengan penciptaan karya seni dan desain berbasis budaya.

I Made Jayadi Waisnawa, S.Sn.,M.Sn

Pendidikan terakhir Magister Seni fokus Desain Interior. Prestasi dalam lomba desain interior adalah nominasi lomba desain toilet Green Building Council Indonesai, penghargaan sebagai dosen berkinerja penggerak ISI Bali. Penelitian yaitu Pengaruh pola ruang terbuka hijau terhadap sirkulasi udara pada rumah tinggal (2018), Karang Tuang, Adaptasi Konsep Ruang Terbuka Rumah, Tradisional Bali (2019), Setra, Konsep Ekologi Masyarakat Tradisional Bali (2020), Peranan ruang Terbuka Hijau Pada Rumah Tinggal Dengan Penataan Bali Madya Dalam Mendukung Interior Melalui Penghawaan dan Pencahayaan Alami (2021) dan Perancangan Gerai Kerajinan Khas Mandalika Sebagai Destinasi Wisata Super Prioritas Dengan Pendekatan Storynomics Tourism (2022).

Dr. I Made Pande Artadi, S.Sn., M.Sn.

Lahir di Denpasar pada tanggal 18 November 1975. Beliau menempuh pendidikan Sarjana Desain Interior (S1) di Universitas Udayana, melanjutkan Program Magister Desain (S2) di Institut Teknologi Bandung, dan meraih gelar Doktor (S3) di Universitas Udayana dengan disertasi berjudul “Dekonstruksi Praktik Pengembangan Desain Hunian Minimalis di Kuta Selatan, Badung”.

Penelitian yang pernah beliau lakukan antara lain berjudul “Rekacipta Animasi Desain Interior Gerai Kerajinan Khas Lombok dalam Rangka Pengembangan Destinasi Wisata Super Prioritas Mandalika”, yang didanai oleh Program Matching Fund Tahun Anggaran 2022.

Buku terakhir yang ditulis oleh beliau adalah “Hunian Minimalis: Penanda Tergerusnya Arsitektur Tradisional Bali”, yang diterbitkan pada tahun 2024.

I Putu Udiyana Wasista, S.Sn., M.Sn.

menuntaskan studi strata satu (S-1) pada Program Studi Desain Interior di Institut Seni Indonesia (ISI) Denpasar, dilanjutkan dengan program Magister pada Program Studi Pengkajian Seni di institusi yang sama. Dalam kurun waktu lima tahun terakhir, secara konsisten mengimplementasikan riset dengan pendanaan yang signifikan. Proyek riset unggulan tersebut mencakup Matching Fund KEDAIREKA untuk Rekacipta Animasi Desain Interior di Destinasi Pariwisata Prioritas Mandalika, serta serangkaian Penelitian Kajian Sejarah Perjuangan Rakyat Bali. Fokus penelitian utamanya berpusat pada integrasi desain biofilik, analisis arsitektur vernakular, dan eksplorasi nilai-nilai sosiokultural Bali. Rekam jejak publikasinya teruji melalui artikel-artikel yang dimuat dalam jurnal nasional terakreditasi dan jurnal internasional. Selain itu, aktif sebagai kontributor pada sejumlah book chapter dan penulis buku ajar, termasuk “Eko Desain” dan “Desain Interior: Teori dan Perkembangannya”. Jelajah akademisnya juga diperkuat dengan peran aktif sebagai pengelola beberapa jurnal nasional terakreditasi.

Drs. I Wayan Balika Ika, M.Si.

Merupakan Dosen Program Studi Desain Interior ISI Bali sejak tahun 1990. S1 Desain Interior dan S2 Kajian Budaya dengan konsentrasi Estetika merupakan bidang keahlian yang ditekuni, baik dalam pendidikan, penelitian, dan pengabdian kepada masyarakat. Selama menjadi dosen telah menerbitkan beberapa artikel pada jurnal nasional dan jurnal internasional, menerbitkan buku, karya monumental dan HKI, serta aktif mengikuti pameran karya dan memenangkan hibah penelitian.

I Nyoman Adi Tiaga, S.Sn., M.Sn.

lahir di Desa Pacung Bitera, Gianyar, Bali. Ia menempuh pendidikan S1 Desain Interior di ISI Yogyakarta dari tahun 1998 hingga 2004, kemudian melanjutkan pendidikan S2 di tempat yang sama dari 2011 sampai 2013. Saat ini, ia sedang menempuh studi S3 di ISI Bali. Sejak tahun 2006, ia telah diterima sebagai dosen tetap di ISI Denpasar, yang kini berubah nama menjadi ISI Bali. Dalam perannya sebagai dosen, ia mengampu mata kuliah desain interior residensial dan desain interior komersial. Selain aktif mengajar dalam tridarma perguruan tinggi, I Nyoman Adi Tiaga juga aktif melakukan penelitian dengan beberapa fokus studi, antara lain ; Ekspresi Interior Tropis pada Arsitektur Kolonial di Kota Singaraja, Studi Materiality dalam Aplikasi Material Upcycle pada Desain Interior, Studi Struktur dan Konstruksi pada Kerajinan Mebel Bambu di Desa Belega, Gianyar, Bali, dan Ungkapan Estetis Sistem Konstruksi pada Interior Bangunan Tradisional Bali.
