Architecture Undergraduate Study Program Indonesian Institute of the Arts Bali

The Architecture Undergraduate Study Program was established based on the Decree of the Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Technology of the Republic of Indonesia Number: 336/B/O/2025. Situated under the Faculty of Fine Arts and Design at the Indonesian Institute of the Arts Bali, this study program is designed to develop architectural knowledge and skills grounded in the values of art, local culture, and the wisdom of traditional Balinese architecture, while integrating technology, contemporary innovation, and sustainable design approaches in spatial and built environment planning.

The program is supported by competent and multidisciplinary human resources. The teaching staff consists of academics and practitioner partners with backgrounds in architecture, fine arts, interior design, landscape architecture, and cultural studies. The lecturers are graduates of reputable universities and are actively engaged in research and professional practice. This combination of expertise enables the development of a holistic, contextual, and adaptive curriculum that responds to global dynamics as well as local needs.

The Architecture Undergraduate Study Program at the Indonesian Institute of the Arts Bali focuses on architectural studies and design based on the profound wisdom of Balinese craftsmanship, Nusantara (Indonesian archipelago) architecture, and innovative sustainable design. The curriculum explores the diversity of Balinese and Nusantara wisdom, including craftsmanship, modern Balinese architecture, Nusantara architecture, and modern architecture. The program prioritizes architectural studies and designs oriented toward humanistic values, local cultural conservation, environmental sustainability, and the utilization of digital technology.

VISION

To become an Architecture Study Program based on the profound wisdom of Balinese craftsmanship, Nusantara architecture, and sustainable design, characterized by excellence and global reputation.

MISION

  • To deliver higher education in architecture at KKNI Level 6 through learning, research, and architectural design based on the profound wisdom of Balinese craftsmanship, Nusantara architecture, and innovative sustainable design;

  • To conduct research and community service that have a meaningful impact on society; and

  • To establish collaborations with reputable practitioners, professionals, and the business and industrial world (DUDI) to develop architectural knowledge, practice, and institutional capacity.

Researchers and Mentors

Researchers and mentors possess competencies as architectural analysts projected to become researchers, writers, curators, planners, and architectural academicians. These competencies include mastery of research methodologies, analytical skills, and the ability to formulate and discover innovative architectural solutions.

Designers

Designers possess competencies in architectural planning and realization, projected to become building architects, landscape architects, and urban planners. These competencies include mastery of theories, concepts, principles, and technical skills in architectural design based on digital technology.

Entrepreneur

Entrepreneurs possess competencies in architectural management, projected to become contractors, developers, event organizers, and architectural material entrepreneurs. These competencies include production, promotion, marketing, and project management.

Ir. Mercu Mahadi, M.T.

Ir. Mercu Mahadi, M.T. Lahir di Denpasar tahun 1962 menyelesaikan Pendidikan S1 pada Fakultas Teknik Aritektur Universitas Dwijendra Denpasar tahun 1992 dan Pendidikan pasca sarjana S2 pada Program Magister Teknik Sipil dengan konsentrasi Manajemen Konstruksi Universitas Udayana Denpasar tahun 2009.Sejak tahun 1994 diangkat menjadi dosen tetap pada Fakultas Seni Rupa Dan Desain Institut Seni Indonesia Bali sampai sekarang. Aktif menulis penelitian mandiri maupun Hibah bersaing dan kerap menulis artikel ilmiah baik pada jurnal local, nasional maupun di jurnal Internasional.Karya buku Ajar ber ISBN : Pelatihan Menggambar Ornamen Tradisional Bali di Yayasan Dharmajati II Denpasar.

Dr. I Made Agus Mahendra,S.T.,M.Sc

I Made Agus Mahendra merupakan Dosen Fakultas Seni Rupa dan Desain ISI BALI yang Aktif mengajar di Program Studi desain interior dan arsitektur. Menyelesaikan Pendidikan S-1 (2008) dan S-2 (2010) di Universitas Gadjah Mada Yogyakarta pada Program Studi Arsitektur. Pendidikan S-3 diselesaikan pada tanggal 23 Nopember 2020 di Program Studi Doktor Ilmu Teknik konsentrasi Arsitektur Universitas Udayana. Berperan Aktif dalam organisasi Profesi Ikatan Arsitek Indonesia (IAI) dan telah memiliki Surat Tanda Registrasi Arsitek (STRA) untuk dapat berpraktek sebagai arsitek Profesional dengan kualifikasi ahli jenjang 8. Kolaborasi dan implementasi antara dunia akademisi dan praktik Profesional arsitek memberikan dedikasi serta integrasi yang holistik dalam interaksi dunia Pendidikan tinggi.Melaksanakan Penelitian mandiri maupun hibah yang luarannya terpublikasi pada jurnal nasional dan internasional melalui artikel Integration Of Artificial Intelligence In Architectural Design Process: Innovation Towards Smart Architecture serta Innovation in Sustainable Construction Materials in Green Infrastructure Development.

Ida Ayu Anindya Chintya Aridewi, S.Ds., M.Ds

Ida Ayu Anindya Chintya Aridewi merupakan Dosen Fakultas Seni Rupa dan Desain ISI BALI yang lahir di Denpasar, 3 Desember 1998. Aktif mengajar di Program Studi Desain Interior dan Arsitektur. Menyelesaikan pendidikan sarjana S1 di Prodi Desain Interior ISI Denpasar tahun 2021 dan Pendidikan Pasca Sarjana Magister Desain di ISI Denpasar tahun 2023. Memiliki beberapa publikasi ilmiah di Jurnal lokal maupun Nasional maupun publikasi buku seperti Anthropometry and Accoustic Review At Auditorium Seat Of Giri Nata Mandala Culture Center, Desain Pola Ruang Terbuka Rumah Tinggal Tipe 100 Berbasis Konsep Bali Madya Dalam Mewujudkan Pembangunan Berkelanjuta (SDGS), dan Bookchapter : Desain Interior (Teori dan Perkembangannya).

Putu Ari Darmastuti, M.Sn

Putu Ari Darmastuti, M.Sn. adalah dosen di bidang desain interior. Menyelesaikan pendidikan Sarjana Desain Interior di Institut Seni Indonesia Denpasar pada tahun 2014, kemudian melanjutkan Magister Seni di kampus yang sama dan lulus pada tahun 2017. Setelah kurang lebih lima tahun bekerja di biro desain, memilih berkarier sebagai dosen sekaligus desainer interior independen. Mengampu mata kuliah Desain Interior Eksplorasi dan tetap aktif merancang berbagai proyek komersial maupun residensial. Selain mengajar dan berkarya, Ari juga produktif menulis. Beberapa publikasi ilmiah dan beberapa buku ajar seperti Pengantar Desain Interior 3D Program SketchUp & Enscape (2024) serta menjadi kontributor dalam buku Desain Interior: Teori dan Perkembangannya (2024). Baginya, desain bukan hanya persoalan estetika, tetapi juga hasil dari penguasaan teori, wawasan teknis, serta kepekaan terhadap kebutuhan ruang dan penggunanya.

Toddy Hendrawan Yupardhi, S.Sn., M.Ds

Toddy Hendrawan Yupardhi, S.Sn., M.Ds menyelesaikan pendidikan sarjana S1 di Prodi Desain Interior ISI Denpasar tahun 2004, pendidikan Pasca Sarjana Magister Desain di Institut Teknologi Bandung pada tahun 2013. Saat ini tercatat sebagai mahasiswa program pasca sarjana Program
Doktor Desain ISI Bali dan sekaligus dipercaya untuk mengemban tugas sebagai Koordinator Program Studi Arsitektur ISI Bali sejak tahun 2025 hingga 2030. Aktif publikasi ilmiah di beberapa Jurnal Nasional sejak tahun 2015 hingga kini dan juga kerap mengikuti pameran khususnya pameran desain interior dan furniture pada skala lokal, nasional maupun internasional. Karya buku: Bookchapter: Desain Interior (Teori dan Perkembangannya).
