DENPASAR – In an effort to broaden students’ creative horizons and introduce global cinematic aesthetic standards, the Animation Study Program of the Indonesian Institute of the Arts (ISI) Bali successfully organized the “Road to Europe on Screen 2026” event. Combining a selected animated film screening with an in-depth discussion session, the event was held on Thursday, 7 May 2026, at the Vicon Hall, 2nd Floor of the Citta Kelangen Building, ISI Bali.
This special collaboration featured the European animated film TITINA (Norway, 2022, directed by Kajsa Næss, 91 minutes), renowned for its distinctive narrative and compelling visual techniques. The film recounts a flashback story set in the 1920s, when Norwegian explorer Roald Amundsen invited Italian airship engineer Umberto Nobile on an expedition to the North Pole, during which Nobile brought along his dog, Titina.
The event, which commenced at 2:00 PM Central Indonesia Time (WITA), was enthusiastically attended by more than 130 participants, including students from various study programs, members of the public, French artists, and lecturers within the ISI Bali community. The Vicon Hall at Citta Kelangen bore witness to the enthusiasm of Bali’s emerging filmmakers in critically engaging with international works, while also demonstrating that local talents are prepared to compete on the global stage. The presence of this program at ISI Bali aimed to create a platform for dialogue between local creators and developments within the international film industry.
Following the screening, a talk show session was conducted featuring Ms. Menina Putri, Co-Director of Europe on Screen 2026. The interactive discussion proceeded smoothly and engagingly, covering topics such as production techniques, opportunities for distribution through national and international film festivals, and future challenges within the film and animation industries.
“This collaboration is not merely about watching films together, but also represents our effort to spark students’ inspiration. By observing how European animators execute their ideas, we hope to encourage ISI Bali Animation students to become more courageous in experimenting with local cultural identities within global standards,” stated I Putu Arya Janottama, Coordinator of the Animation Study Program at ISI Bali.
