Making Kober Penawasangan by Craft Study Program ISI Denpasar

In implementing the Tri Dharma of Higher Education, lecturers of the Craft Study Program, Faculty of Fine Arts and Design, the Indonesian Art Institute, Denpasar, held community service at the Dalem Temple, Serongga Traditional Village, Gianyar, Saturday 11 December 2021. This community service activity was filled with making uparengga kober penwasangan. which will be used at the temple ahead of the piodalan which will take place on the full moon day, December 18, 2021. The administrator of the Kayangan Dalem Temple in the Serongga Traditional Village, Drs. I Kadek Mertanadi, M.Sc. (55 years old) positively welcomed the activity program of the Crafts Department lecturers at ISI Denpasar. Because this activity can help complete the uperengga equipment before the piodalan at the temple.

The chairman of the committee as well as the temple prejuru Drs. I Ketut Astawa Suyasa (63 years old) also thanked the Craft Study Program ISI Denpasar for the implementation of this PKM program. He hopes that this service program will continue in the future. This activity is considered positive because it can help manners and cannot be assessed in terms of material and also as a cultural preservation program for local wisdom.

Dr. Drs. I Wayan Suardana, M.Sn, a representative lecturer of Craft Study Program ISI Denpasar on that occasion explained that this community service activity involved 20 lecturers and was carried out regularly every semester at different places and programs. This Craft Study Program was attended by the Vice Chancellor of ISI Denpasar, Dr. Drs. I Ketut Muka, M.Si. The service of the Craft Study Program at the Dalem Temple in the Serongga Traditional Village is also equipped with the planting of candlenut trees (tingkih) around the temple area. Candlenut fruit is used as a means of ceremony in Hinduism in Bali. During this service, cleaning aids were also delivered.

Pembuatan Kober Penawasangan Prodi Kriya ISI Denpasar di Pura Dalem Desa Adat Serongga Gianyar

Dalam implementasi pelaksanaan Tri Dharma Perguruan Tinggi, dosen-dosen Prodi Kriya Fakultas Seni Rupa dan Desain Institut Seni Indonesia Denpasar, mengadakan pengabdian kepada masyarakat di Pura Dalem Desa Adat Serongga Gianyar, Sabtu 11 Desember 2021. Kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini diisi dengan pembuatan uparengga kober penawasangan yang akan digunakan di pura tersebut menjelang piodalan yang akan berlangsung pada hari Purnama 18 Desember 2021. Pemangku Pura Kayangan Dalem Desa Adat Serongga, Drs. I Kadek Mertanadi, M.Si. (55 tahun) menyambut positif program kegiatan dosen-dosen Prodi Kriya ISI Denpasar. Karena kegiatan ini dapat membantu melengkapi piranti uperengga menjelang piodalan di pura tersebut.
Ketua panitia sekaligus prejuru pura Drs. I Ketut Astawa Suyasa (63 tahun) juga mengucapkan terimakasih kepada Prodi Kriya ISI Denpasar atas pelaksanaan program PKM ini. Beliau berharap kedepan program pengabdian ini bisa berlanjut. Kegiatan ini dinilai positif karena dapat membantu krama dan tidak bisa dinilai dari segi materi dan juga sebagai program pelestarian budaya kearifan lokal.
Dr. Drs. I Wayan Suardana, M.Sn, wakil dosen Prodi Kriya ISI Denpasar pada kesempatan itu menjelaskan kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini melibatkan 20 orang dosen dan dilakukan rutin persemester pada tempat dan program yang berbeda. Kegiatan pengabdian Prodi Kriya ini dihadiri oleh Wakil Rektor ISI Denpasar Dr. Drs. I Ketut Muka, M.Si. Pengabdian Prodi Kriya di Pura Dalem Desa Adat Serongga ini juga dilengkapi dengan penanaman pohon kemiri (tingkih) di sekitar setra pura tersebut. Buah kemiri digunakan sebagai sarana upacara.dalam Agama Hindu di Bali. Pada pengabdian tersebut juga dilakukan penyerahan alat-alat bantu kebersihan.

BALINESE COLORS AS BALI IDENTITY IN MODERN INTERIOR AND ARCHITECTURE

On Saturday (27/11/2021) held in the courtroom of ISI Denpasar rectorate building, the Matching Fund 2021 Research Result Dissemination program entitled ‘Diversification of Balinese Colors for Development of Paint Finishing on Interior and Modern Architecture Design’. Dr. A A. Gede Rai Remawa as the Chief Researcher, consisting of Dr. I Made Pande Artadi, I Kadek Dwi Noorwatha, M.Ds, Toddy Hendrawan Yupardhi, M.Ds and Putu Ari Darmastuti, M.Sn; all of which came from the ISI Denpasar Interior Design Study Program.

The event was attended by invitations from Bali Provincial Culture Service, Bali Provincial Perbekel (Head of the Village) Forum, HDII Bali, practitioners, alumni and students as well as DUDI Partners in this Matching Fund program, namely Ir. I Kadek Sosiawan, M. Arst as director of CV. Racana Design.

It was revealed in the event that Balinese color is the development of Balinese paint or traditional dyes for coloring traditional Balinese art, namely mask (tapel) coloring  made from natural materials. It is dominated by stone and other organic materials, such as: Deluga, Atal, Taum, Pere, Kencu, Mangsi, Bone/Horn. Those materials diversified in a modern way, so that the intensity of the obtained paint finishing color is relevant to modern interior architecture.

The Balinese colors diversification process is carried out by the students at the ISI Denpasar Interior Design Studio as the pioneer of the ISI Denpasar Bali Color Laboratory Research Center. The participants, especially from HDII and practitioners, hope that the results of this research will be disseminated massively and widely in order to strengthen Balinese identity in interior design and modern architecture and also to preserve Balinese visual culture, especially Balinese colors.
