Institut Seni Indonesia Bali (ISI BALI) has once again been entrusted with playing a significant role in the opening ceremony of the 48th Bali Arts Festival (PKB XLVIII) 2026, which is officially scheduled to commence on 13 June 2026. As in previous years, ISI BALI will serve as the opening performer in the Peed Aya procession, one of the festival’s principal and most highly anticipated attractions.
The opening series of PKB XLVIII will begin with the Peed Aya cultural parade during the daytime, followed by a sendratari (Balinese dance drama) performance in the evening. This year, ISI BALI will present a Peed Aya production entitled Mahamredangga Kalpa, while the evening sendratari performance will stage the story of Lubdaka.

At present, ISI BALI is intensively preparing all aspects of the performances, including artistic concepts, choreography, musical composition, and the readiness of the performers involved. The active participation of the academic community reflects ISI BALI’s commitment to preserving, developing, and advancing Balinese arts and culture through monumental creative platforms such as PKB.
Approximately 300 students, lecturers, and educational staff members will be directly involved in both the Peed Aya parade and the sendratari performance. This large-scale collaboration serves not only as an artistic presentation, but also as a medium for experiential learning, the strengthening of artistic character, and the implementation of the communal spirit of gotong royong within the creative process.
