Mandala ISI Denpasar

The Indonesian Institute of the Arts Denpasar is an arts higher education institution administered by the Ministry of National Education and directly accountable to the Minister of National Education. ISI Denpasar is functionally supervised by the Directorate General of Higher Education, Ministry of National Education. ISI Denpasar was established under Presidential Decree of the Republic of Indonesia Number 33 of 2003, dated May 26, 2003, as the result of the integration between the Indonesian College of the Arts (Sekolah Tinggi Seni Indonesia – STSI) Denpasar and the Visual Arts and Design Program (PSSRD) of Udayana University. During the leadership of Prof. Dr. I Wayan Rai S., M.A., who served as Rector of ISI Denpasar from 2004 to 2013, several new programs were introduced, including the Master’s Program in Artistic Creation and Studies (S2) in 2011; the Diploma IV Program in Fashion Design in 2012; and in 2013, the Diploma IV Program in Television and Film, the Bachelor’s Program in Arts Education for Drama, Dance, and Music, and the Bachelor’s Program in Music. Additionally, the Citta Kelangen and Citta Hasta Mandala buildings were established. Under the leadership of Prof. Dr. I Gede Arya Sugiartha, S.SKar., M.Hum, who served as Rector from 2013 to 2021, ISI Denpasar successfully introduced the Doctoral Program in Arts (S3) in 2017 and the Master’s Program in Design (S2) in 2020, and completed the construction of a parking facility and the Reneng Studio Building. During the tenure of Prof. Dr. I Wayan Adnyana, S.Sn., M.Sn., as Rector from 2021 to 2025, ISI Denpasar introduced the Master’s Program in Arts Education (S2), the Bachelor’s Program in Product Design (S1), and the Diploma IV Program in Animation in 2022; the Bachelor’s Program in Theatre and the Master’s Program in Arts Management (S2) in 2023; and the Doctoral Program in Design (S3) in 2024. Major infrastructure projects included the completion of the Design Hub and Integrated Laboratory buildings, the renovation of the roof and interior of the Latta Mahosadhi building, as well as the renovation of the Nata Citta Art Space and the Natya Mandala building.
